1.
FACE TURN 01:02
An arms length To push away Saved face, Cold comfort and slow decay Shadows grow longer Through the day A face turned To look away Paths to walk And paths to stray Lights to fade And hearts to change A moment of silence It all falls apart again And before you know it You’re all on your own again
2.
CARRY 01:08
Panes of glass so imperfect The image is distorted What was once important Fades into the distance Faint familiarity Absently, it follows me We’ve been here before In brief moments of clarity The pieces left in all of us Fragments of the past Memories now incomplete And never meant to last At least this long But they stay And still remain Unchanged
3.
It smashes to pieces every time You pick them up but keep cutting your fingers Once broken it’s so easy to break again It won’t ever take the same shape again Carelessness, and collected remnants Fragile and familiar fragments Thrown to the ground
4.
Edges worn over time I’m tracing their erased lines Peering into empty eyes Of faces I don’t recognise Sailing for the ocean’s edge Making maps of empty skies Drawn towards the black horizon But the wind has already died I’ve carved a wooden sword to pierce the heavens I’ve carved a wooden sword to fall on
5.
PALIMPSEST 00:35
Swimming in a sea of linens I cave Grass against the skin Feelings to get lost in But slipping away And fading to black Nothing takes me back
6.
I searched the darkness But our eyes wouldn’t meet We drank deep from emptiness And both ceased to be What was left in there When everything else disappeared The waning glow of the streetlamps Reminds me of that light disappearing But still here we are breathing The warmth of our breath fills the empty space between There’s a quiet I can hear As I wonder, how long we’ve spent here Was the air always this cold Were the nights always this long
